Aaliyah Dana Haughton and Aarti Mann

Aaliyah Daniel Haughton exploded to stardom in 1994 with the release of her first album Age Ain't Nothing but A Numer. Her album, which was released when she only had 15 years of age was certified Gold. The collaboration was strongly in the style of R. Kelly, and helped put her on the map. In the year 1996, Jermaine Durpri along with Timbaland worked together to create her second Album One In A Million. This album featured the track If Your Boyfriend Only Knew as the number one. The second album of Aaliyah entitled One in a Million came out in the year 1996. It included the first hit single"If You Girl Only Knew. In 2000 she appeared in Romeo Must Die, a romantic action film with Jet-Li. Joel Silver, film producer and director of Romeo Must Die caught her during an awards event. The year 2002 was the time she appeared as part of the Anne Rice-based horror film Queen of the Damned. She then got into the Matrix by playing Zee in The Matrix Sequels having also performed as a character in The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 as well as The Matrix Revolutions in the same year. She is an Indian-American of first generation born in Connecticut. Her stage name Mann is an abbreviation for her married name Mankad. However, she uses both Aarti Mann as well as Aarti Majumdar as her professional names. While she started out in film and TV with a few minor roles her acting career gained speed in the late 2000s. Her other notable projects include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. The actress has been featured in a variety of commercials for Volvo's international automobile manufacturer. The actress lives in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter and is continuing to develop her acting career.
